Newport Coastal Outdoor Black Light Post Photo Eye Replacement

Newport Coastal outdoor black light posts are an attractive and effective way to add security and lighting to your home or business. They are equipped with a photo eye that automatically turns the light on at dusk and off at dawn. However, over time, the photo eye can become damaged or fail, causing the light to stay on all the time or not turn on at all. If you need to replace the photo eye on your Newport Coastal outdoor black light post, here are the steps you need to follow:

1. Safety First

Before you begin, make sure to turn off the power to the light fixture at the circuit breaker. This will prevent you from getting shocked.

2. Remove the Light Fixture

Once the power is off, you can remove the light fixture from the post. To do this, simply loosen the screws that are holding it in place. Be careful not to drop the light fixture.

3. Locate the Photo Eye

The photo eye is usually located on the side of the light fixture. It is a small, black box with a wire coming out of it. Once you have found the photo eye, disconnect the wire.

4. Replace the Photo Eye

Take the new photo eye and connect the wire to it. Then, insert the photo eye into the hole on the side of the light fixture. Make sure that the photo eye is facing the correct direction. The arrow on the back of the unit should point towards light.

5. Reinstall the Light Fixture

Once the photo eye is in place, you can reinstall the light fixture on the post. Tighten the screws until the light fixture is secure.

6. Turn on the Power

Once the light fixture is reinstalled, you can turn the power back on at the circuit breaker. The light should now turn on automatically at dusk and off at dawn.

Troubleshooting

If the light does not turn on after you have replaced the photo eye, there may be another problem. Here are a few things to check:

  • Make sure that the photo eye is facing the correct direction.
  • Check the wiring to make sure that it is secure.
  • Test the photo eye with a multimeter to make sure that it is working properly.

If you are still having problems, you may need to contact a qualified electrician for assistance.
