How To Replace Outdoor Wall Sconce
Outdoor wall sconces are a great way to add light and style to your home's exterior. They can be used to illuminate walkways, patios, and other outdoor areas. If you need to replace an outdoor wall sconce, here are the steps you need to follow:
Gather your tools and materials:
Turn off the power:
Before you start working on the sconce, turn off the power to the circuit that it is connected to. This will prevent you from getting shocked.
Remove the old sconce:
Most outdoor wall sconces are held in place by screws. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws and then carefully pull the sconce away from the wall.
Disconnect the wires:
Once the sconce is removed from the wall, you will need to disconnect the wires. Use wire cutters to cut the wires about 6 inches from the sconce. Then, use electrical tape to insulate the ends of the wires.
Mount the new sconce:
Place the new sconce on the wall and mark the location of the screw holes. Then, use a drill to create pilot holes for the screws. Insert the screws and tighten them until the sconce is secure.
Connect the wires:
Connect the wires from the new sconce to the wires from the house. Make sure that the black wires are connected to each other, and the white wires are connected to each other. Then, use electrical tape to insulate the connections.
Turn on the power:
Once the wires are connected, turn on the power to the circuit. The new sconce should now be working.
