How To Remove An Outdoor Lamp Post

Outdoor lamp posts are a great way to add light and style to your outdoor space. However, there may come a time when you need to remove the lamp post, whether it's because you're renovating your yard or replacing the light fixture. If you're not sure how to remove an outdoor lamp post, don't worry - it's a relatively easy process that can be completed in a few hours. Here are the steps on how to remove an outdoor lamp post:

  1. Turn off the power:

Before you start working on the lamp post, make sure to turn off the power to the light fixture. This will prevent you from getting shocked while you're working. To turn off the power, simply flip the circuit breaker that controls the light fixture.

  2. Remove the light fixture:

Once the power is turned off, you can remove the light fixture. To do this, simply unscrew the screws that hold the light fixture in place. Be careful not to drop the light fixture, as it could break.

  3. Disconnect the wires:

Once the light fixture is removed, you'll need to disconnect the wires that connect the light fixture to the power supply. To do this, use a pair of pliers to loosen the wire nuts that hold the wires together. Be careful not to cut the wires, as this could damage the electrical system.

  4. Remove the lamp post:

Once the wires are disconnected, you can remove the lamp post. To do this, simply unscrew the bolts that hold the lamp post in place. If the lamp post is embedded in concrete, you may need to use a sledgehammer to break it free.

  5. Fill the hole:

Once the lamp post is removed, you'll need to fill the hole that it left behind. To do this, you can use concrete or soil. If you're using concrete, simply mix it according to the package directions and pour it into the hole. If you're using soil, simply tamp it down until it's level with the surrounding ground.

By following these steps, you can safely and easily remove an outdoor lamp post. If you're not comfortable working with electricity, you can always hire an electrician to do the job for you.
