How to Make Your Own Outdoor Gas Fire Pit

Materials

Fire pit ring (24 to 36 inches in diameter)
Lava rocks or fire glass (enough to cover the bottom of the fire pit)
Gas burner (12 to 18 inches in diameter)
Flexible gas line (1/2-inch diameter)
Gas regulator (for the type of gas you're using)
Quick-connect fitting (for the gas regulator)
Shut-off valve (for the gas line)
Tools (measuring tape, level, shovel, screwdriver, wrench)

Instructions

1. Choose a Location: Select a level spot in your backyard that's away from trees, shrubs, and other flammable materials. The location should also be accessible to a gas line.

2. Prepare the Ground: Dig a hole in the ground that's slightly larger than the fire pit ring. The hole should be about 12 inches deep.

3. Place the Fire Pit Ring: Set the fire pit ring in the hole and make sure it's level. You may need to add or remove dirt to level the ring.

4. Install the Gas Burner: Place the gas burner inside the fire pit ring. The burner should be centered and level.
