How to Make Custom Cushions for Outdoor Furniture

Outdoor fabric
Foam or batting
Sewing machine

Zipper (optional)

Measure the length and width of your cushion form. Add 2 inches to both measurements to allow for seams.

If you didn't use a zipper, turn the cushion cover right side out through the opening you left in Step 2.

Step 5: Insert the Cushion Form

Insert the foam or batting cushion form into the cover.

Step 6: Close the Opening

If you didn't use a zipper, hand-sew the opening closed.

Step 7: Iron the Cushion

Iron the cushion to give it a professional finish.

Tips:

Use outdoor fabric that is water-resistant and fade-resistant.
If you're using foam, choose a firm density for added support.
For a more tailored look, use piping around the edges of the cushion.
Add tufting to the cushions for a decorative touch.
Store cushions indoors during inclement weather to prolong their lifespan.
