How to Make a Cushion for Outdoor Chair
Outdoor chairs can be uncomfortable to sit on for long periods of time, especially if they don't have cushions. Adding a cushion to your outdoor chair can make it much more comfortable to relax in. Plus, it can add a touch of style to your outdoor space. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to make a cushion for an outdoor chair:
Materials:
- Fabric (outdoor fabric is best)
- Foam or batting
- Sewing machine
- Thread
- Scissors
- Measuring tape or ruler
- Chalk or fabric marker
- Zipper (optional)
Instructions:
1. Measure the seat of your outdoor chair. Cut two pieces of fabric to the size of the seat, plus 2 inches on all sides for seam allowances.
2. Cut a piece of foam or batting to the size of the seat. Place the foam or batting between the two pieces of fabric, right sides together.
3. Sew around the edges of the fabric, leaving a small opening for turning. Turn the cushion right side out and insert a zipper in the opening, if desired. Sew the opening closed.
4. Place the cushion on the seat of your outdoor chair and enjoy the added comfort!
Tips:
- Use a heavy-duty fabric that is resistant to fading and mildew.
- If you are using foam, choose a foam that is at least 2 inches thick for added comfort.
- If you are using batting, use several layers to create a thicker cushion.
- Add a zipper to the cushion for easy removal and cleaning.
