How to Light a Gas Outdoor Fire Pit

Outdoor fire pits are a great way to enjoy your backyard on cool evenings. They provide warmth and ambiance, and they can be a great place to gather with friends and family. If you have a gas fire pit, lighting it is easy and safe. Here are the steps on how to light a gas fire pit:

Step 1: Check for leaks

Before you light your fire pit, it is important to check for leaks. To do this, turn on the gas supply and use a soapy water solution to brush around the gas connections. If you see any bubbles, that indicates a leak. Do not light the fire pit if you find a leak. Instead, turn off the gas supply and contact a qualified technician to repair the leak.

Step 2: Open the gas valve

Once you have checked for leaks, you can open the gas valve. The gas valve is usually located on the side of the fire pit. Turn the valve slowly until you hear gas flowing.

Step 3: Light the pilot light

Most gas fire pits have a pilot light that ignites the main burner. To light the pilot light, use a long lighter or match to reach down and light the pilot light. Once the pilot light is lit, hold it down for about 30 seconds to allow the thermocouple to heat up. The thermocouple is a safety device that prevents gas from flowing if the pilot light goes out.

Step 4: Light the main burner

Once the pilot light is lit, you can light the main burner. To do this, turn the control knob to the "on" position. You should hear the main burner ignite. If the main burner does not ignite, turn off the gas supply and wait a few minutes before trying again. This will allow the gas to dissipate.

Step 5: Adjust the flame

Once the main burner is lit, you can adjust the flame to your desired height. To do this, turn the control knob to the desired setting. The higher the setting, the higher the flame will be.

Step 6: Enjoy your fire!

Once you have adjusted the flame, sit back and enjoy your fire. Gas fire pits are a great way to warm up on cool evenings and create a cozy atmosphere in your backyard.
